THE SHARJAH LIGHT FESTIVAL 2020

The 10th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival scheduled from February 5-15 celebrates the majestic grandeur and magnificence that Sharjah represents.

The city has been always popular for its strikingly attractive architecture like the Al Noor Island Butterfly House, Heart of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah to name a few. However, witnessing these marvellous structures come to life during SLF is a unique experience by itself.

Backed by especially composed music and attractive lasers show, each of these iconic monuments becomes enormous canvases that screen light shows.

Every year, the elements of the light festival remain a closely held secret, so that the awe-inspiring festival comes as a special surprise to visitors. However, with the help of technological advancements, the decorations, lightings and musical celebrations are expected to be bigger and better than ever especially as this is the 10th anniversary year.

International and local artists, curators and musicians create a fascinating display of lights, colours and music in the city plus an exciting collaboration with two of the most highly regarded universities in the area – the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah whose students participate in the creation of two special shows projected on the main buildings of both the Universities. Each show lasting approximately for 10-20 minutes plays on a loop from 6 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and will continue till midnight on Sundays.

Last year, the 9th Sharjah Light Festival ended with an impressive closing ceremony at the Al Majaz waterfront. The carnival was a display of awe-inspiring fireworks and pyrotechnics. The last event was attended by over 1.2 million people, both residents and tourists combined. The 10th-anniversary edition is sure to get bigger!
