A WOMAN TO LEAD INDIA’S PREMIER TRAVEL BODY

Jyoti Mayal, Director, New Airways Travels has been elected as the President of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) for the period 2019-2021.

Jyoti, former Secretary-General of TAAI registered a thumping victory against the outgoing Vice President Sanjay Narula, Founder & CEO of Apex Travel & Tour in a straight contest.

Amongst her team are Lokesh Bettaiah, Triway Travels, Bangalore as the new Secretary and Shreeram Patel, Unicorn Travels, elected as the Treasurer while Jay Bhatia, Tulsidas Khimji Holidays was elected unopposed as the Vice President of TAAI.

Jyoti is an experienced industry veteran and is one of the familiar faces of the industry. She was the head of Northern Region of TAAI from 2009 to 2013 period and was elected to TAAI Managing Committee in 2013. Thereafter, she was actively involved in the conduct of the last two annual conventions of the association, which were held in Srinagar – Jammu & Kashmir and Kunming in China.

While commenting on her election as the President of TAAI, she said, “Today history is created. A landslide victory for my entire team lends a wonderful sense of pride. I am humbled and honoured to have the support of all my team and colleagues to achieve our goals and vision to take TAAI to the next level in these testing times.”

She added that her first and foremost priority as the President of India’s premier travel and tourism body will be to work to ensure the tourism and travel industry sector is well recognised as an industry by both union and state governments in India.
