A SUSTAINABLE X-MAS TREE

last Christmas, Crowne Plaza Greater Noida in the national capital region of Delhi curated and installed a ‘Sustainable Tree’, a 14 feet Christmas tree installation made entirely of recycled material.

The hotel set up one of its kind Christmas installations made entirely of recycled waste from the hotel, including beer bottles, metal and ply board. More than 2000 beer bottles, 350kg of scrap metal and approximately 480 sq. ft. of old floor boards were used to erect a 14 feet high installation standing tall at the hotel lobby.

The installation, completed overnight and which took close to 12 hours to make weighed approximately 800 kgs was conceptualised by General Manager Ashwani Nayar and brought to reality by the hotel’s engineering team headed by Chief Engineer Mukesh Sharma. While the hotel’s PR spiel talked about how the tree further strengthened their focus and commitment towards green and sustainable initiatives, the real charm was when guests queued up to use it as a selfie spot way into the new year and beyond.
