20 YEARS OF AUTOMOBILE RIVALRY

Two major Indian brands continue their rivalry even after 20 years of an ‘automotive’ war!

Tata and Mahindra have been clashing against each other in the Mid-SUV sector, starting with the launch of the Safari and the Scorpio. Safari entered the market in 1998 and Scorpio in 2002 but despite their long-standing, both vehicles have constantly faced a very exciting rivalry since then. In the twenty-year duration in which they ruled the Indian roads and attracted the Indian car lovers, both have competed against each other, and the battle might continue in the time to come.

Both the brands have reportedly planned to launch their fourth-generation automobiles in the popular Mid-SUV’s category in the Indian market in 2020.

The Indian car enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the confirmation of this news. The hoax designs and renderings related to both the vehicles have filled the internet with various speculations of the fourth generation. Considering the huge jump in standards of both the rivals, pushed ahead with automotive development and quality; it has raised the expectation barrier for the customers and even the employees of the brands.

With the reports in news, every car enthusiast is excited and we expect that both brands get equal competition and love from the Indian market. Tata has not confirmed the news till now, but if it does it is expected that Safari will share the same power pack as the Harrier does. Whereas Mahindra has announced that it is expected to introduce and feature a new 2.0-litre BS6 diesel.

Considering Tata safari legacy, we are expecting the company to design the fourth generation on the same ladder chassis platform with the similar size and dimensions as the Strome. But led headlamps and bigger grilles are expected as per ongoing trends of the latest automotive design. And, for the first time, it is believed that Tata will launch the Safari in automatic transmission too.

Mahindra Scorpio might get a freshened dash design with dual-tone and is expected to get an 8-inch display similar to Alturas or 7-inch touchscreen unit similar to XUV 300 depending on the variant of 2020 Scorpio {expected}. It is believed that it will also have sunroof as option for the Indian market and will be designed on the ladder chassis as the rivals do, but the dimension is expected to be tweaked here and there.
