Life Beyond COVID
Despite the drums of war sounding on the horizon, international travel is all set to rise up to its historical average of nine billion nights. Ironical? Well, headlines do not define what the world is thinking.
The traveller profile is undergoing a change as traditional source markets are shifting. Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and India are the new heroes of outbound travel.
This change in source markets is also spawning new destinations. Established tourism hotspots have already started facing the heat from new destinations that seem to have popped up overnight. Sifnos, the Greek island, accessible only by a ferry and Bodrum in turkey according to other wise men (and women) could be the answer to the beaten track of cote d Cote d Azur and the Amalfi coast. It just might morph into the new Riviera 2025 and beyond!
Talking of domestic travel, India, currently the world’s sixth-largest domestic travel market by spending, is speeding to overtake Japan’s and Mexico’s to become the world’s fourth largest by 2030.
Britain has been reeling under umpteen problems but here also international visitors are expected to splurge £34 billion pounds this year. Anyway, this amount is modest as the figure of approximately 40 Million visitors expected to converge upon the country this year is equally a conservative one.
It’s pretty evident, the gloomy news of dread isn’t cutting travel enthusiasm yet. Come what may, endless travel and fun is here to stay.
